I Missed the Liberty Game!

On Sunday, I woke up extra early so that I could do my chores and get ready to go to the New York Liberty Game at Madison Square Garden. My boys and I were excited as it was to be the first time we had ever seen a live basketball game! It was sure to be an amazing event!

We were on the ball.  Laundry was almost done, brunch was served, clothes were selected than BOOM! An unexpected crisis happened that kept us home! We were forced to wait for someone that had to pass by my apartment to pick up documents that were needed by 5:30 PM that night. They assured me they would arrive within 30 minutes but of course 30 turned to 40 and so on. I was fretting and have to admit the other side of Ms. Latina came out! I was ranting and raving in Spanish- Yes Ms. Latina forgets her English when she gets upset so my boys knew I was LIVID!

After the documents were picked up, we ran out of the apartment and tried to flag a yellow cab. None were available… looked like 5:30 was their busy hour! So of course I made my boys run. I figured hey, its only about 20 blocks away. I know, I know I wasn’t thinking! The poor boys were huffing and puffing. Thank goodness they wore deodorant – trust me- THANK GOODNESS!

As we ran, we saw people leaving the venue! Oh no I thought how could it be over?! Don’t basketball games last at least 3 hours?!  Goes to show you how much I know about basketball! Big K ran up to the next family that passed and our fears were confirmed the game was over. Talk about totally bummed. My youngest, Little Man, was pouting and near tears. Big K was also upset. He had been so excited to go to the game. He even checked out the players stats  and bios online. He had told me earlier that day that he really liked Sidney Spencer not just because of her game but because she loved to cook and watch the Food Network. This is something that Big K  loves to do, watch the Food Network. It gives him ideas that he uses when I’m stuck at work and he cooks dinner.

In the end, I felt horrible. I had let my babies down. I have to admit its at those moments when I have to be in two places at once that I hate being a single parent. Here’s hoping we get to go to another game soon especially because they are a great family fun entertainment choice starting at $10 a ticket.
