Amazing Mom Bloggers at the NYC Moms Nite Out

Last week Maria Baily of Mom Talk Radio, invited me to the NYC Moms Nite Event. As a new blogger, I was overjoyed. It was my first Mom blogger event and I was elated to have the opportunity to meet other NYC Mom Bloggers.  Of course, I cancelled my previous plans and accepted the invitation.

That evening I ran home from work to get ready for the event. The night before, I had selected and pressed my clothes. I even made sure I had the matching shoes and bag ready and waiting. I was prepared!!! Yeah rightttttttt, we’re talking about Mommy world here! Of course, the weather decided to put a dent on my big day … it rained. Why is this important? Well if you know anything about Latinas you know that rain is harmful to our hair! Rain to me is what kryptonite is to Superman. I had a frizzy mess on my hands and was not looking my best. Ever the optimist, I thought no problem, I’ll just run home and redo my hair then hop into a cab.  Simple I thought. NOT! My hairdryer decided to choose that day to die, with only one side of my hair straightened!

Aghhhh talk about frazzled and I’m not just talking about my hair! Thankfully, my best friend, Millie,  was on hand with a flat-iron to calm both my hair and my nerves. She did miracles that night! I then dragged her into a cab and with me to the event.   As we arrived at the venue, the very beautiful Wyndham Garden Hotel in Manhattan, I was amazed. I had not known that such a beautiful hotel was just a few short blocks away from me. I dug in my purse to take some pictures for the blog, aimed the camera and clicked. NOTHING HAPPENED! In my haste to get to the event I had left my battery charging in the wall socket! I was definitely having one of those days!

Thankfully, I was able to obtain a picture of the Wyndham Garden Hotel from their website.  Isn’t it amazing? I have to say that the photo does not do it justice.

The inside was even more spectacular than the outside, especially the Grand Terrance, where Moms Nite Out was being held. Foliage blocked the view of the surrounding buildings, making you feel as though you had somehow left the city. It was very intimate and would be a romantic setting for a stay-cation.

Although I arrived about an hour late, I was still able to meet several bloggers and guests, like  NY City Mama, Mom In The City, Gillian Kushner, Barbara Pflughaupt, Babyrific, and so many others! I have to apologize if I cannot remember everyone’s names. I have to admit I was star struck while meeting all of those fabulous bloggers.  For some time, I had been reading many of their blogs and could not believe that now little old me was actually in a blogger event with them. Talk about surreal!

The event ended at 10, however, como pura Boricua/ like a pure Puerto Rican, I arrived late and closed the party down! (Is that just me or do any other Mommies have that same problem LOL). We were having such a great time with Katja that we did not notice the hotel staff cleaning until they started to sweep around us. By the time, I arrived home it was almost midnight. I had attended the ball, met the Queens, dined, had wine, relaxed, and somehow kept my glass slippers on! Mama Latina would have been proud!

I have to thank Katja PresnalMaria Baileyand Kim Orlando. They did an amazing job in organizing this Mother’s Day treat.
