I recently received notice from a friend that El Museo Del Barrio (Translation: The Museum of the Neighborhood) will be hosting a FREE event to celebrate the re-opening of their new facilities!

For those of you unfamiliar with the museum, El Museo Del Barrio is “New York’s leading Latino cultural institution”, located on New York’s Museum Mile. The museum, open to all,  is a wonderful  institution that showcases  Latin America  and the Caribbean.  Per their site:

“El Museo’s varied permanent collection of over 6,500 objects spanning more than 800 years of Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino art includes pre-Columbian Taíno artifacts, traditional arts, twentieth-century drawings, paintings, sculptures and installations, as well as prints, photography, documentary films and video.”

The event starts at 11:00 A.M. and finishes at 9 P.M.  They will have an entertaining day for families and singles alike, full of tours, readings, and salsa dancing! For those with children, I’m excited to say they will have face-painting, children’s storytelling, crafts and my teen’s favorite the “Graffiti Wall of Fame and local murals”!

Enjoy and don’t forget to stash that saved ca$h!
