The topic – domestic violence.
Domestic violence impacts millions. On average, it occurs at least 145 times every hour in the U.S. Sadly, 3 women die every day from domestic violence. This must change.

How can we create change?
By bringing attention to the act, we take the stigma, and the burden, away from the victim and place it where it belongs – on the perpetrator. Our voice is our power and we must use it.
Domestic violence affects approximately one in four women – more women than breast cancer, ovarian cancer and lung cancer combined. Yet, people shy away from the topic. We’re going to change that.
Why discuss?
Knowledge is power!
Lack of financial knowledge, and resources, is the number one indicator of whether a domestic violence victim will stay, leave or return to an abusive relationship. The Allstate Foundation uses Purple Purse and PurplePurse.com to get people talking about domestic violence. The website appears to be an online fashion magazine, but when the user looks more deeply, she will find a safe place with a variety of information and resources specific to the issue of domestic violence and financial empowerment.

This is such a great promotion they are doing.
I probably not joining up to do the twitter party. I always stink at those. I sign up, forget about them, and when I do them everyone is tweeting so fast I just don’t get what’s going on.
