Disney’s newest animated flick, BRAVE, showcases a fiery redhead that reminds me of so many Latinas. Her long curly locks, fierce determination and willingness to step outside the beaten path are characteristics many Latinas embody.
Unlike many of the docile maidens in Disney’s earlier movies, Merida, the main character, does not stand waiting for a man to rescue her or for a marriage to define her. She’s a character I would like my daughter, if I had one, to emulate, and I can not wait to see it in theaters.
Thankfully, I will not have to wait for the movie to hit theaters nationwide on June 22. I will be attending a screening on June 20 in Midtown, Manhattan. Even better, two Latina On a Mission readers will also be able to attend the screening on June 20 in Midtown, Manhattan, as well!
The two (2) selected readers will receive a family four (4) pack of tickets. Note, winners must arrive no later than 7pm, EST, to ensure admittance. To enter to win these tickets follow the directions below.
¡Suerte! / Good luck!

my daughter’s bravest moment so far has been having a cavity filled at the dentist. For me, I feel brave every time I have nursed one of my daughter’s in public. Thanks for the giveaway! Love all things Disney!

My brave moment was when I was in middle school and a bully ask me for money and I stood up and said no
A time I felt Brave was when I was younger and had to defend my little sister from a girl she was being bullied at school. I went up to the girl and told her to stop messing around with my sister or else she will have to put up with me and then she will really understand what being bullied was. I was in the 8th grade and they were in the 6th. But I guess at the time being, two years seems like a lot of ages in between because the girl was so scared she left crying, and never again bothered my sister.

My bravest moment was when I packed up and moved across country to California for college. I didn’t know anyone there and It was like starting from scratch. It was extremely terrifying being so far from my family and friends. But I can now say that I wouldn’t trade that experience for the world and don’t regret a second of it.
