Ramona and Beezus Movie Review

Ramona

As a mom, I am always looking for family friendly entertainment that everyone can watch. I’m delighted to say that Ramona and Beezus is THAT movie.

The 20th Century Fox film will open nationwide on Juy 23, 2010. It is rated “G” , yet is fast paced enough to keep everyone’s attention, including adults and older teens. The film features well name actors like Selena Gomez, Josh Duhamel, Ginnifer Goodwin, Bridget Moynahan, John Corbett and Sandra Oh, as well as the insanely adorable Joey King!

Eleven year old Joey King stole the show as the pint sized Ramona. Her ability to dramatize a situation and misunderstand adult themes, like her father getting laid-off and her Aunt B getting “reeled in like a sea-bass” by an ex-boyfriend, leaves the audience in stitches! Yet its also her ability to never give up, even when faced with what seems insurmountable that I love best. In her own words, “Nobody thinks I can but I can. I can be extraordinary” and she is!

Ramona and Beezus captures the heart. In fact, it’s terrifical!

I took my daughters to see this movie. One is 5 yrs old and the other is 16. We all thought it was a cute movie. My oldest daughter could certainly sympathize with Salena Gomez’s character of having a younger sister that some times annoys the heck out of her. And my youngest could relate to Romona as her big sister sometimes can be a bit testy at times. All in all it was a great movie and we all enjoyed it.

my bebas loved it. Just perfect for the 6 to 10 ish girl crowd. The father being laid off part was sad but i think a lot of kids are going through that and good for kids to see a more realistic portrayal of real life, because we all don’t have fancy cars. I love the books too.
