It’s Sabroso Saturday (Translation: Tasty Saturday)! The day when we share recipes that have helped us stretch our budget, our imagination and our taste buds, without sacrificing our health!

This past week I had lots of time to cook and bake at a leisurely pace so I took the time to make a few items my boys would love. One of those items were Wheat Iced Cinnamon Rolls.
They take some time to prepare since you are making them from scratch and have to let the dough rise but its well worth the wait! Also, this is a family friendly recipe that you can do with your kids. My boys loved gathering and rolling the dough. It let them release some of that tension of being cooped in from the snowstorm as they pounded it out on the dough!
Note, I obtained the recipe from the Domino Dark Brown Sugar box. (Don’t you just love boxed recipes!)I tweaked it a bit by using egg substitutes, whole wheat flour and removing the pecans since GASP! my boys don’t like pecans. I also added extra raisins and less sugar for the filling.
Anyway, hope you enjoy this sweet sabrosura / yumminess!
¡Buen Provecho!

I always like the chance to cook from scratch, adjust recipes and take out what might not be so great. I think raisins sound yummy for a breakfast roll than pecans. Maybe mixed regular and gold raisins? But don’t tell the boys that I agree with them about pecans, we wouldn’t want them to get the wrong idea

Cinnamon rolls from scratch, now that’s a challenge for me…
I’m used to the Pillsbury premade rolls you stick in the oven for approximately 15minutes.
Thank you for sharing this. We are a cinnamon roll loving household and it’s great to find a variation to try rather than having the same thing over and over again. My favorite part of the blogs I follow are the recipes because you put things in that real people like. I find that cookbooks try too hard and make things to the point that my family wouldn’t like them so I don”t even use them. I appreciate you pointing out all this yumminess.
