Being an apartment dweller, I have limited kitchen space. As a result, when I was offered a chance to review the George Foreman Smart Kitchen Multicooker, I was psyched!
When I received the box, I was excited to take it out. I have to admit I expected it to be much bigger, especially after I was that told that I could cook up to 30 cups of rice in it (perfect for gatherings!). Thankfully, I was wrong. It was a very compact piece that fit perfectly on my counter-top next to my George Foreman Grill (Enter to win a George Foreman Grill of your own by clicking here – Ends 1/8).
After a few days of staring at my multicooker, I figured I better use it if I was going to write a review but I was stumped as to what to make. This baby could cook rice, steam vegetables, sear and cook meat, make stews, warm sauces and more but it didn’t include recipes. Bummer! I decided to stick with something simple, brown rice and steamed veggies, while I got used to the settings. I didn’t want to attempt something pricer without getting the hang of it first.
Did it come out well? YES!
The maker’s of the George Foreman Smart Kitchen Multicooker took into consideration that brown rice must be cooked differently than white rice and included a separate brown rice setting on the multicooker’s one touch digital control. See picture below. This setting allowed me to make my brown rice in my multi-cooker, while also making my steamed broccoli at the same time in the top pan.
The George Foreman Smart Kitchen Multicooker had a slew of other features that I thought were worth noting, like:
- Nonstick coating for oil-free cooking (less calories!)
- Easy to clean
- Utilizes a simple control called “one-touch digital Intelli-Probe™” that allows you to make rice/steam veggies, as well as stews, soups and sauces with settings up to 500°F
- Sears meats (very healthy and delicious way to cook )
- Tempered glass lid with adjustable steam vent for monitoring cooking progress and controlling steam.
Its perfect for apartment dwellers, busy lifestyles, those trying to live a healthier lifestyle, and ANYONE! It can make a simple bowl of brown rice or something more elaborate like Maple-Mustard Pork Chops. It can help you create a meal for two or twenty, without the fuss and clean-up needed with ordinary pots and pans.
I, myself, plan on attempting more elaborate meals as time goes on. Some of the dishes I plan on making in my multicooker are:
- Arroz con gandules /rice and peas
- Seared chicken breast with steamed veggies
- Vegetable Soup
- Maple-Mustard Pork Chops (Yummy!)
- Seared beef tenderloin
When I do, I’ll make sure to share the recipes in the Sabroso Saturday recipe blog hop!
In the meantime, I’m excited to say one reader is going to win their very own George Foreman Smart Kitchen Multicooker right here on Latina On a Mission!
