Spammers with Jokes!

laughin-cat

Lately I’ve noticed more spam comments on my blog. Today I received upwards of 50 which could be a good and bad thing. Good because it means my blog is getting noticed. Bad because it can infect my computer. For this reason, I try to go through my spam and delete it as quickly as possible.

I have to admit I have one spammer who has jokes.  Crazier still, they make me laugh! Here are a few of the jokes this spammer has used as comments:

  • Why do bicycles fall over? Because they are two-tired.
  • Did you hear about the guy who ran through the screen door? He strained himself.
  • What do you get when you cross a snowman and a vampire? Frostbite!

They were a bit childish and yes corny but the damage they could create wasn’t.  Bloggers and website owners have to be very vigilant or they can download a virus onto their computer systems. Spammers use any means available to catch you off your guard, including jokes so please be wise before approving a comment. If not, it may cost you more then a laugh!

I use a wordpress plug in for spam comments. It protects and all I have to do is delete them. Just a thought in case you’re not using any.

jai: Thanks Jai! I use a plug-in but I always check my spam because sometimes the comments from new readers go into my spam 🙁 so I try to ck it every once in awhile.
