The White House may turn red!
Why?
Because it will raise awareness for heart health! How cool is that?!
If you have never heard of Go Red for Women and/or Go Red Por Tu Corazón, it’s a non-profit organization that aims to raise awareness for heart health in women. As a Latina, I’m also more apt to have heart issues. Studies have proven that Latinas are likely to develop heart disease 10 years earlier than non-Hispanic white women. Scary, isn’t it? I know it freaked me out!
In fact, it’s one of the reasons I became a Go Red Spokesperson and why I would love to turn the WhiteHouse red, but I can’t do it alone. We need 25,000 signatures by January 4, 2012 for the White House to consider our petition to illuminate the building in red to honor National Wear Red Day® and American Heart Month.
