Om to Olay

Omthe word many use during Yoga, to de-stress, relax and unwind, brings on the same vibe that Olay gives Jeanette in her daily beauty regimen.

Read on to find out why she was chanting her own mantra at the New York Olay Pro-X Hot Yoga Event, held at the Exhale Spa Upper East Side.

New York Olay Pro-X Hot Yoga Event

I have been a fan of Olay for years. One of my childhood memories was of my mother getting ready to step out, with musica/music playing softly in the background. She’d begin by using her daily moisturizer, Olay. I loved when she would allow me to put a little bit on my face.

To this day, the scent, the texture remind me of her. It soothesthe salsera in me; as a result, when Ms. Latina asked me to attend an event Olay had put together to introduce their Olay Professional ProX Clear anti-aging adult acne regimen I thought, “How perfect!”.

The event held at the Exhale Spa Yoga Studio in Manhattan gave me the chance to relive my childhood memories. I would also be able to pass on a tradition, one started by my own Mami, to my daughter, who accompanied me.

Together, at the Olay event, we bonded, just as my Mom and I had years ago. The only difference… the musica/music. Before my mother and I danced salsa steps as we giggled over her beauty regimen, here, my daughter and I would carry Olay yoga mats and chant “Om, Om, Ommmm to Olay”.

I also had the opportunity to meet with a dermatologist. She explained Olay’s 3 step program and noted how it could help my skin. Unlike my mother, I am prone to breakouts. Always have been. The pimples, normally associated with puberty, may bring on teenage angst, yet definitely not its youth! I had hoped that age would rid me of these darn pimples but I was wrong; as a result, I couldn’t wait to use Olay’s 3 Step Program.

The first few days I found myself enjoying the treatment, mainly because I felt like I was paying some attention to myself. Initially I had a bit of a break out, almost as if it was ridding my face of future pimples. It cleared up soon after, leaving my face clearer and brighter. As with yoga, a skin care regimen requires consistency and time to determine its success. From the first Om to the last, Olay helped my skin de-stress, relax and unwind, giving it a calm that not even a mantra could achieve!

Olay means trust to my mother & I. I look forward to passing that on to my daughter. I tell her to treat her skin well now and it will show its appreciation later. Olay is the way for her to begin, regardless of what stage of her life she is in!

Do you have any childhood memories of beauty products?

Disclosure: I received products to review at home. This in no way influenced my review. Some of my most treasured memories of my mother and I involve Olay. Now I am sharing our memories and creating new ones of Olay with my daughter as well. Thank you Olay!

Olay reminds me of my mother, too. She also used estee lauder and whenever I see one of their ads I think I should stop and put on some lipstick. What a fun event! Love hot yoga!

I just discovered Olay products within the last year. I use their face scrub after each workout and now I can’t imagine being without it.

My mom was never really into beauty products. Dove soap was as fancy as she got. I, on the other hand, love trying new products but once I find something I like, I won’t change it LOL

This brought back memories. My mother loves PONDS and swears by it. She would actually switch back and forth from Ponds porducts to Olay products. She would tell me that my face neends a break from brands once in awhile. Thanks for sharing.

I actually used Oil of Olay when I was a young Mom, because MY Mom recommended it – it was reasonably priced & worked! As the years passed I began using other products but I come back to Olay now & then… I’d definately like to try their Pro-X line! You’re so lucky to live where you can go to places like this Spa. I live in a small town in middle America & we don’t have anyplace like Exhale Spa – I have actually never even HAD a “spa” experience….(sigh) oh well!

Love Olay! With a wife, two daughters, (plus two sons), my Cuban father has always been surrounded by the essence of women. From putting on fashion shows of new pretty dresses my Mom would buy to paying for the bi-weekly hair appointments for all of his girls, he was well acquainted with needs of women. Last summer, he was watching his beloved New York Yankees play on television and an Olay commercial appeared on the screen. Instead of flipping the channel, he watched how the promo explained the wonderful benefits and affordability of Olay’s beauty products. So it came as no surprise that the next day he calls me from his office to ask if I (1) had heard about Olay’s new line of moisturizers and (2) that I should go buy some because he wanted to make sure that even though I was a busy WAHM that I was still taking care of my skin! LOL

Nice event! My mom has been a loyal user ever since I can remember. She always had the bottle (glass back then) on her vanity table. She must be using it for over 40 years now!

So many memories of my mom are linked to beauty products. We always had the bar of soap with the flamenco dancer on the front and it smelled of roses. And then the aloe vera cream in the bottomless bottle.

Thanks for sharing this review. I use some Olay products and I find they are just as good as some of the higher end products I’ve used from department stores.

I use Olay too, and tried to make my boyfriend use it but he refused, saying it was too “girlie” 😀 Do you know if they have any mens products? I ll keep pressing him though, and think he will eventually give in 😀

yes! i remember Clinique as a child— not sure if they used to do parties (kind of like Mary Kay) but my mother used to swear by it. And so today, I use a lot of Clinique make up–not so much the skin care line. I need spa day, something serious!

I also love Olay’s bar soap for my bath. It smells so clean and fresh and it’s the only bar soap that leaves my skin feeling moisturized. As a kid, Noxema is the one I remember my Mom using faithfully …and she used Vaseline for her nails and to remove eye makeup.
