5 Ways to Ditch the Mom Look

I’m a Mom. I think that’s pretty much been established on this blog. It’s not something I hide or would ever want to hide. Yet, I definitely believe that women need to ditch the Mom look. You know which one I mean. It’s the look that says I care and nurture others but not myself. Ladies, this needs to stop! You are amazing, inspiring, and beautiful. Let the world know it! Not sure how? I noted 5 Ways to Ditch the Mom Look below.

5 Ways to Ditch the Mom Look | Latina On a Mission

ADD COLOR

Color makes you pop. Add as much or as little as you like! Whether it’s a blouse, an accessory or a fab pair of pumps, adding color says, “I’m alive. I’m happy. I’m beautiful!” And, you are.

BLING IT OUT

I’m all about the bling. It’s an easy way to update an outfit without breaking the bank. In fact, you should always bling it out! Grab a statement piece that screams you. Btw, name rings, name necklaces, name anything are totally in! And, what better way to remember you are your own person than by wearing your name?!

SHOW OFF YOUR CURVES

Ok, let’s get real. Sometimes, our curves are not as curvy as they used to be. No worries! I’ll let you in on a secret. There is a way to create curves where they ahem seem to have disappeared. Use belts. I am totally loving this belt from Scoop NYC! Best part, it’s only $9 on sale. Scoop this one up! It’s HOT.

DITCH THE MOM JEANS

You know the ones I’m talking about. Those jeans you wear all the time because they are just so, so comfortable. Those are Mom jeans. Not. Pretty. Ladies. I know. I’ve been there. We all have. But, life should be more than comfortable. It should be exciting. It should be an adventure. It should say “I’m here. I’m alive. I’m a MOTHER… and I want everyone to notice!” Because we only have one life to live, ditch the Mom jeans. Trust me on this one. It will absolutely change your life.

DRESS IT UP

This one is important. Three words that you must never forget: DRESS. IT. UP. You’re older now. You no longer need to browse in the teen section, even if you fit in the clothes. You are one classy, sophisticated Mama, even when you have baby spit on you. Don’t doubt it! If you can conquer the terrible twos and potty training, than you best believe that you are an adult, who deserves to dress it up. FOR YOU. Not for the significant other, not because you have a special event, but because you, my dear, are WORTH IT. So, go ahead give yourself permission to dress up. And, remember there’s a reason why little girls like to play dress up – twirling really does bring joy.

So, here’s to Moms and to ditching the Mom look!

Tell me, how did you ditch the Mom look? Let us know in a comment!

The truth of the matter is it’s easier to run after a toddler in comfortable clothes than while looking prim and proper. With that said I always look for comfort but never sacrifice style. Accessories and pop of color play a major role in my Wardrobe.
In addition, I always make sure my hair and makeup are best before stepping out of my house ;).

You are a genius @Ivette! Hair DOES make an outfit. It can make it go from drab to fab. Thanks for the reminder!

Noooooo… I can’t ditch the Mom jeans. I have lots of jeans and the hip huggers are so uncomfortable. I am always having to pull them back up so my crack doesn’t show. I am an OLD mom, so that makes me able to keep my Mom jeans. Right???
I had my Granddaughter go through my jeans and she took 2 pair of them. Wait until she sees I have a black pair of Juicy Couture pants.

Terry You had me cracking up with your comment! I LOVE that you have a black pair of Juicy Couture pants! That just shows me that you are NOT an old Mom. Go Girl!

what do you mean, I can’t shop in the juniors’ section anymore?!?! LOL. J/K! I haven’t in a while, lol.

I love all your suggestions, especially the bling and color (even though, as a NYer, nothing is better than black and dark colors in the winter, lol)
