Get the Facts on Kid’s Meals! #FoodFri

by Migdalia Rivera

Get the Nutrional Facts on Kid's Meals! | Latina On a Mission

As a Mom, I want my boys to have the best. The best schools, the best parks, and most importantly the best food whenever possible. I’m sure you want the best for your kids as well!  Most Moms do.

This week I am joining MomsRising’s weekly #FoodFri Tweetchat to discuss the best, and worst, Kids Meals found at chain restaurants. Given that summer is right around the corner, and 91% of Kids Meals at chain restaurants do not meet industry’s own nutrition standards, I want to be prepared to steer my family toward the chain restaurants that do meet standards. Because, really, I want the best for my kids. Don’t you?

Below is the information to join in the conversation. No sign-ups required. But, if you have any questions or want to leave your Twitter name in a comment below, feel free to do so.

Child Hunger Ends Here Partnership with Latina On a Mission #ChildHunger

I’m excited to announce that I have partnered with ConAgra Foods on an initiative called “Child Hunger Ends Here”. Sadly, the reality is that 1 in 5 children suffer from hunger – that’s nearly 17 million children. It’s not limited to those in poverty. It has affected every demographic and nationality. Hungry children are in our […]

Oscar de la Renta Contest – Act FAST Ends Sunday (12/9)!

When I had my sons, I imagined them all dressed up with little suits and ties. In my mind they were always impeccably dressed and well behaved. Of course that was a fantasy… or at least part of it was! They may not have been the most well behaved – As the saying goes, boys […]

The Face of One Who’s Health Was At Risk (“When the health of the mother is at risk”)

Before the birth of my youngest son, I had two miscarriages and an abortion. That pregnancy haunts me to this day. My son, my precious child, would have been 12. During that pregnancy, I was placed on partial bed rest. I was high risk. My body had so much trouble holding onto my boys. Yet, this pregnancy lasted […]

Is That A Pedophile In The Park?

This past weekend my son and I went to the park to play softball. My son’s best friend was planning to meet us after he finished his chores. Not feeling up to playing ball while we waited for his friend, I suggested he play with several of the other boys in the park. He ran […]

Robitussin: Sanale, sanale, sanale, ya! #spon

“Sanale, sanale, sanale, ya!*” Loosely translated to, “Heal him, heal him, heal him, now”   I can still remember my Mamí saying these words to me when I was sick. She said these magic words as she massaged my arms or back, repeating them over and over until I fell asleep in her arms. Now […]

4 Tips to Build Good Dental Habits In Children #healthyhabits

Recently a 2 1/2 year old boy made headline news. To the dismay of his parents, he had not only joined a growing trend among children, he held the distinction of surpassing most of the others. What gave him that distinction? 11 cavities and one root canal. Can you imagine the trauma? The needles, the […]

#Giveaway: Winnie The Pooh soundtrack AND a copy of “A Hundred-Acre Wood Treasury”

After more than 35 years, Winnie the Pooh hit theaters on July 15, 2011. As an adult, you would think this wouldn’t excite me but it did! I love Pooh, Tigger (my fave!!), Eeyore, Piglet, Owl, Rabbit, Kanga and Roo and all their other friends in the Hundred Acre Wood’s. I have to admit […]

First Born, Postpartum Depression, and Empty Nest Syndrome

Today my man child turns 17. I can’t believe time has flown so fast. I never knew how wonderful, frustrating, exhilarating and annoying motherhood could be when I had him. I so long to hold him and never let him go, which is so unlike me. When he was born, I refused to see or hold him. […]
