Six Ways to Score Cheap or FREE Movie Tickets

With summer in full swing, you can best believe that my sons and I will be heading to the movies to get away from the hot, sticky days! Not only do the movies provide a great family outing, but this year’s selection looks much better then last. Of course, movies can add up if you’re not frugal so today I want to tell you how I score cheap movie tickets!

Listed below in alphabetical order are several ways I score great movie deals.

1. Company Offers
Keep your out eye for free offers from companies that you normally frequent. Company offering normally ask you to purchase an item or two to receive a free ticket. If its a something you normally purchase than go ahead jump on it! If its not, I don’t suggest you buy it to get a free movie ticket. Its counter-intuitive and can actually cost you more in the long run. One company offer that that I thought was worth mentioning is from General Mills. If you submit two cereal boxtops you’ll receive a FREE movie ticket. Click HERE to read the post on Divina’s blog. This offer expires on June 30, 2010.

2. Discounts
As with anything else, you can find discounts on movie tickets if you search the web. I recently found this great deal where you can puchase a AMC Movie Tickets for $4.00 (up to a $12.50 value).  Its valid in New York, Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Boston only and takes about 4 weeks to arrive. Click HERE to score this deal!

3. Fandango
I like this site because of their movie promos. They normally have a few going on at a time. If you know what movie you’re going to see in advance you can usually snag a buy one get one free by using your VISA card. They also have other great deals. One that I like right now gives you 10% off when you buy $25 in Fandango Bucks movie gift certificates. This offer is only good in June is good for ANY movie (Perfect for graduation gifts!). I also thought it was worth mentioning that Fandango has a contest going on right now where you can win 10 cent tickets during the month of June on Facebook and Twitter!

4. Giveaways
You can even find some great giveaways for Movie tickets by doing a google search for “giveaway and movie”. I found a great one HEREthat lets you win an AMC $50 giftcard. It ends on July 9, 2010, so make sure you enter!

5. Local Listings
A great way to see a movie for free is by checking your local city and state websites. In NYC, you can check the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation for free Summer Movies. Their listing  includes movies at Bryant Park, Films on The Greens, and many more! Note: Not all are kid friendly so check the descriptions.

6. Pre-Screenings
I LOVE pre-screenings! Prescreening tickets go quickly – normally within 15 minutes so you have to act fast! One site I use is Film Metro and gofobo.com. To receive listing via email, make sure you sign up!
