Life is an Adventure with Keds! #KedsStep | Latina On a Mission

I’ve never been a heels kinda girl, much to my Mami’s dismay, which means stylish flats are my holy grail of shoes. That’s why when I became a Latina on a Mission Contributor and had the opportunity to review the latest Keds, I was beyond excited. Life is an adventure with Keds! Their  diverse range of options and styles fit my personality. It was hard to narrow down but I was finally able to narrow it down to three:

  1. Champion Dot with a blue and white polka dot pattern (I’m obsessed with polka dots!)
  2. Rookie Loop-De-Loop Suede, Walnut gray high tops with a fluffy aqua blue lining
  3. Champion Oxford CVO, a versatile white pair

I now consider each on these Keds an essential part of my wardrobe. I love picnicking at my local park with my hubby, and the polka dot sneakers were perfect for our most recent picnic! Not only were they comfortable and easy to play Frisbee in, but the fun pattern made me feel like I didn’t have to sacrifice style for comfort. This is always my biggest battle with shoes!

I like to be comfortable and cute, and thanks to #KedsStep I now have the perfect shoes for both. The brown trim really helps these stand out and means I can wear it with jeans and my favorite brown skirt.

As a native Floridian transplanted in the cold north, it’s also important to me to have shoes that keep my feet warm in the brisk weather. One of the problems with sneakers is that no matter how great your socks are your feet always get cold. That’s why I was surprised when I wore the #KedsStep gray high tops—because despite wearing them in 30 degree weather, my feet never got cold thanks to the aqua faux fur lining. This means my hot weather loving self can go hiking in the cold without losing feeling in my toes!

While I was dumping out my closet to see how many new outfits I could make with my new shoes (don’t judge), I was impressed by how many different ways I could wear these gray Keds. If I want to funk it up, I can flip the tops down and show the aqua faux fur over my pants or tights. But if I’m feeling a little more laid back, I can just pull my jeans over them and have a plain pair of gray sneakers that will match pretty much anything.

That honesty makes these the BEST kind of shoes for traveling overseas. As a seasoned traveler, one of the hardest things for me to pack is the shoes. I love dressing funky and having options when I get dressed, but when your travel gear is limited to a backpack, your options get limited and your style becomes decidedly plain. Keds has  solved my nomad shoe problem, because these shoes will give me multiple style options when I’m traveling while ensuring I’m comfortable during long sight seeing days.

The last pair of Keds I got is a pair of simple white sneakers. I know—most people avoid white sneakers like the plague because “they get dirty so fast.” While I think this is true of most sneakers, I’ve never had that experience with Keds. I have been wearing white Keds sneakers since I was a toddler (seriously my mom thought these were adorable with dresses), and I don’t even know what I would do without them in my wardrobe. When they do occasionally get dirty, it’s not a big deal because they are incredibly easy to wash. The last pair of white Keds I had lasted for years through multiple washings and lots of hikes, and honestly, one or two washes is worth it to have a pair of sneakers that match most of your clothes.

I wear white Keds all summer. I wear them on the boat when I’m fishing cause they have great traction, they look cute with my summer dresses, and don’t make my feet sweat because the color doesn’t attract the sun.

These are also the classiest sneakers to keep in your purse if, like me, you can’t manage the heels. I’ve always hated when I get off the train and see folks wearing the bulky sneakers with their nice work clothes, but Keds are totally different because of their slim, elegant shape. It means you get the after work day comfort without the tacky look.

As a longtime Keds wearer, #KedsStep sneakers are honestly the best shoes you can have if your life is full of daily walks, travel, boat rides, and even that long walk home from work.

Let’s talk! Which of the three Keds sneakers shown do you like best? Let us know in a comment!

I adore those polka dot sneakers. I saw an older woman wearing them and they looked great on her too. Clearly, Keds is onto something. I also like that the grey pair has faux fur. What a cute way to have warm feet! I may need to go buy these like…now.

When you said you went through your closet to find new things to match your new shoes to, I laughed out loud. I do that too! You know you made a smart purchase when you suddenly have all these new options for yourself and for expressing your style.

    Great article!

I have to say that growing up with Keds on my feet I am very happy that this brand is still around. A fashionable sneaker with comfort, I will take that any day! I actually have the high tops in brown because I can wear them to work (they are FANTASTIC for Montana below freezing weather). Extremely comfortable with all the running around I do but I have to say I am loving the polka dot sneakers <3 Thank you for your blog 😀

I’ve been rocking Converse for the past 3 years, but I’ve been borrowing my friend’s pair of gray Keds like it’s my job. They are so comfortable, they look awesome, and I love the fuzzy lining! I’m a convert.

You should try the vintage style keds. Way better traction than these newer ones that you have on
