The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1” Movie Review

¡Hola! It’s Jeanette, a contributing writer for Latina On a Mission.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 New York City Screening Attendees

My daughter and I recently had an opportunity to see a private/advance screening of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1”, and I can’t stop thinking about it.

The film opened last week. As expected, it broke records.  So I’d like to thank Latina On A Mission and the screening sponsor 96.3FM, along with DJ Bacán Bacán, who provided some funny commentary, for the opportunity.

I found myself more intrigued by the latest installment than the rest. I had read some conflicting reviews on the film so I was eager to check it out for myself. The movie almost felt like 3 movies in one – the wedding and honeymoon, the pregnancy, the battles with wolves.

I thought it was great. What they managed to produce with computer graphics was quite amazing – I don’t want to give anything away but Bella’s body changes were captivating. I thought to myself “how on earth did they do that?” It is absolutely realistic, great visuals.

The love story was strong, touching and heartfelt – Bella looks different now; womanly, older, ready. Edward is poised as always but in the more intense scenes you see the pain in his frantic eyes. I felt that the performances were stronger this time around. The scenes where it was just the two of them showed some real chemistry, you held your breath.

The kissing scene between Edward and Bella at their nuptials is one to beat – I think it should be a front runner on the next award show featuring “BEST KISS” WHEW – MUCHACHAS, WHEW! Is all I can say about that.

Los lobos/wolves – never thought I’d find a wolf sexy but here I am saying it. Jacob’s character is more in control and powerful – proving a force to be reckoned with. His love for Bella always outweighs all else.

Family Bond – The most beautiful thing I find in the Twilight Saga is not the scenery, actors, wedding gowns (though that dress was amazing on her) it’s the family bond. Latinos are always super family oriented – like mine. I have a fierce love for my family. They are everything to me – our traditions, memories, food, laughter, fights, and reconciliations, all of it. I would not change a thing. I respect how united the vampires and wolves are with their families – I can understand it. I can relate. It’s how I was raised, and how I raise my own children – family is, and will always, be very important.

Bloody? Yes.

Sexy? Yes.

Drama, some comedy, suspense, action?  Yes. It has all of this.

Would I recommend it?

YES and can’t wait for Part 2!

Are you happy that Bella and Eduardo wed? Let us know in a comment!
